The flexible fabric, which can stretch as far as three times its normal
size, is constructed in four layers laid down as “ink” from 3-D
printers.
First, scientists created a silicone base, then added two
layers of electrodes that operate as pressure sensors. The last layer,
which binds everything together, eventually was stripped away to keep
the sensors exposed and sensitive to touch. Read more (5/12/17)

All written submissions
would ideally be between 500-2,500 words, or between 1-5 single-spaced
pages in 12pt Times New Roman font. We are also in need of images
(photos, drawings, paintings, etc) that will format properly as
background designs — this means fitting into a vertical 5.5 inch x 8.5
inch page as accurately as possible, contrasting well in grayscale, and
being noticeable while allowing the written text over-top of it to still
be legible. We strongly prefer art that does not just portray thin /
white / cis / able-bodied people.
All accepted material will be
compensated with a small cash stipend, one print copy and one PDF copy
of the zine, and one Hoax pin. We will pay all shipping costs, whether
domestic or international.
Please aim to e-mail us your amazing
material to hoaxzine@gmail.com by our deadline, MAY 31ST, 2017! If you
are interested, feel free to send us your ideas for topics and artwork!
As always, we are willing to work with you during any and every stage of
the writing process. The sooner you send us your submissions and ideas,
the better!
Thank you so much to every contributor, reader,
and supporter of this zine! We are looking forward to seeing your work!

I went to Canada back in October and was told by SEVERAL white Canadians that they secretly wanted Tr*mp to get elected bc they knew it would mean “more American entertainment” for them to consume. All the while acting like Canada doesn’t have the same imperialistic history as the US.
So this article talks about needing a med kit but doesn’t go into detail about how to build one, so I will. So the most important thing for a medic concerned about stabbings to have are bleeding trauma supplies. Your goal is to stabilize the patient until ems arrives, most likely by trying to stop bleeding.
here is what i pulled from my large trauma kit, i forgot to put shears in this photo but you’ll definitely want some. but if i wanted a light kit to carry with me to stabilize bleeding this is what i would take.
this kit contains:
2 pairs of nitrile gloves
5 surgical pads
2 tegaderm bandages
3 sizes of celox hemostatic (15g pouch, 6g in an applicator, and 2g pouches)
1 compression bandage
5 non stick dressings in various sizes
1 pair of emt shears (not pictured)
1 roll of medical tape (also not in the picture)
and 2 rolls of gauze
this kit is light and easy to carry on your person so its always at hand, it is meant to stabilize bleeding, pretty much nothing else, it can be put together fairly cheaply, especially if a few people build them together and buy the supplies in bulk.
simple instructions for use on knife wounds would be to expose the wound, remove the surrounding clothing, apply the celox hemostatic, and cover with a non adherent dressing then a surgical pad and apply pressure.
I would also recommend at least 2 rolls of a bandage called Coban. It is a self adhesive bandage that can provide pressure and doesn’t require tape.
It’s super helpful when you need to work fast, don’t have extra hands or time to fuck with tape.
A bottle of sterile water or saline is always a good idea. Cleaning the wound with just a gentle pour can do wonders BUT DO NOT POUR IT DIRECTLY INTO THE WOUND!! Pour it at an angle so it will wash over the wound and not into it.
Do not use alcohol or iodine!! Alcohol will BURN LIKE HELL and some people are dangerously allergic to iodine and this could possibly make their condition worse.
Remember, stabilizing bleeding and airway are vital in this situation. Take precautions to protect yourself from blood born pathogens like HIV and the like. Gloves!! And make sure they are the right size for your hands (not too tight as they have a tendency to tear and not too loose as blood can get in through the wrist opening or it will make your hands pretty useless). And make sure nothing in your bag is latex!! This is also a severe allergy risk!!
AND!! AND THIS IS IMPORTANT!! DO NOT GIVE THE VICTIM ANY MEDICATIONS ESPECIALLY ASPIRIN!!! ASPIRIN IS A BLOOD THINNER AND WILL INCREASE BLEEDING AND MAKE IT HARDER TO STOP IT!! LET THE EMT, EMS, NURSES, AND DOCTORS HANDLE MEDICAL TREATMENT!!!
THE TRAUMA KIT IS STABILIZATION!!!
NOT MEDICAL TREATMENT!!!

to anyone who was at a women’s march yesterday- text COUNT ME to 89800 so they can get an accurate number of people who were in attendance
As soon as I seen this I thought “this sound like the feds” ..did some research and…
The Women’s march confirmed on their Twitter that they are not behind these efforts and that it is ran by a third party group. All the while celebrities are tweeting this information, for people to text this number. Do not text this number.
Please you all, if you’re going to be taking part in movements such as these… be mindful that there are people out here trying to get you caught up.
President Velveeta plagiarized his inauguration cake.
A. Cake.
This is real life.
They took the man’s cake design like they are so low down
EVERYONE IS MISSING THE BEST GOSH DANG PART OF THIS STORY
THEY DONATED ALL THE PROFITS TO HRC!!
it’s cool that the bakery also gave a shoutout to the original cake designer
like they absolutely knew how shady this whole thing was and managed to handle it in the best way possible
Update on #cakegate.
So wait, someone in the 🍊 administration actually went to a bakery and was like “give us literally the exact same one as the Obamas had. Exactly the same.” Amazing.
Visually they wanted it identical, yes, and brought in a photo, but…
The original cake ordered by Obama was food. Every layer was a different flavor.
The DT version was ordered as a mostly inedible styrofoam thing, with the ONE layer edible for show.
Ordered that way.
Do you want a metaphor for the incoming administration? This one is pretty sweet. Or, you know, not.
IT GOT BETTER
Here’s an update on Cakegate. Amused and horrified seems to be my permanent state of being for the next four years, so might as well start getting used to it.
